28 weeks!

Well hello third trimester....where have YOU been!?

It's hard to believe that we are really on the downhill here. I'm going to deviate from the regular format because I felt it was getting a little boring and repetitive.

So, yes, tomorrow marks 28 weeks and the beginning of the third and final trimester. Baby K is now 2 1/4 pounds and almost 15 inches long. He has been kicking like a soccer player lately. He is extremely active these days, which is such a great and reassuring feeling. I had a doctor's appointment last week that also consisted of another ultrasound and glucose test. My doctor wanted to check the baby's growth since at the 19 week ultrasound he was measuring 1 week smaller. To make a long story short, he still is so my due date is probably off by 1 week. I am still staying with the July 19th due date because when does the baby really come on the due date anyway? I think it's more something to keep in mind if I were to go into labor early or way late. As my doc said "we'll know his due date when you go into labor". The good news is he's not measuring 2 or 3 weeks smaller! The little bugger is enjoying the jack-knife breach position. They assure me that there is time for him to move, but it makes me nervous since Sam enjoyed that position so much too and he stayed that way.

I have to admit that being pretty sure this is my last pregnancy it does make me want to enjoy it and not be in such a hurry for it to be over. When he's moving around inside me, I find myself just putting my hand there and savoring the moments. He is such a miracle and already loved so much!

His room is painted and the new accumulated clothes have been hung. I still need to go through the hand-me-downs from the big boys to see what will fit and what won't. I don't think my seasons will match up unless he turns out to be a smaller than average baby. Peanut was always about a size bigger when he was a baby and Bubba was about right on for his age/size. I would like to weed out the clothes if possible, but if I can't I suppose I'll just have a ginormous garage sale next year.

Our storage room is busting at the seams - ask Trophy Hub about it and his blood pressure goes up 20 points. He will be grateful when it's cleaned. Or even just organized.

Until next time...

Progress!

It seems like once I typed out all I had to do last week it gave me the motivation to get started!

Last Friday night, I started painting the boys' soon to be shared room. And Saturday afternoon I finished it! I had to travel to Minneapolis for work this week so I took the opportunity to go to IKEA and got them a dresser (Peanut has the dresser that goes with the crib and Bubba has a captain's bed with the drawers underneath). I hope all their stuff fits in this!
MALM 6-drawer chest medium brown Width: 31 1/2 " Depth: 18 7/8 " Height: 48 3/8 " Width: 80 cm Depth: 48 cm Height: 123 cm
And since I was on a roll, tonight I ordered their bunk beds.

your zone zzz place to be bunk bed, walnut, twin
I doubt they are going to match perfectly, but I wanted dark wood because the boys are....well.....boys.

To Do: lots and lots

I know I have approximately 16 weeks until Baby K is born, but really that's not a lot. And I need to save the  last 4-6 weeks to scrubbing the house from top to bottom.

We have a lot to do.

Our biggest task is going to be moving the big boys in together. To do that, first I need to paint their room (yes, I did just paint that room a year or so ago but I don't like it so it must be changed), get their bunk beds ordered, get them a dresser, get rid of 50% of their accumulated toys, clean out both of their closets and combine and then do the actual deed or moving them in. I really feel that they need a few months to adjust to that before Baby K comes. Translation: I need time to train them how to go to bed without jacking around before I have a newborn to tend to also.

Once that is done, I need to paint Baby K's room. It was painted for Bubba before he was born and I'm ready for a change in there. I have already gotten new bedding so the walls need to match. Then hopefully Trophy Hub will remember how to put the crib together. It's been 5 years since he put it together and 3 since he took it apart. I have faith in him.

Maybe after all that is done, I can start going through the clothes in tubs downstairs and figure out which ones may work for summer. I am guessing not many since my previous boys were born in December and November. I hear dressing summer babies is easy - onesies!

Cami-hell

Seamless Tactel Maternity Tank

Today I wore a camisole similar to this one under another shirt to work.

It's one that I got when I was pregnant with Bubba. It was amazing how quickly the discomfort of this thing came rushing back to me. I don't think I was even out of the house before I was ready to tear it off and start over. But, in typical mommy fashion, I didn't have time to change, so out the door I went.

You see when I hold it up, it's about 7 inches long so the bottom of it rests on TOP of my belly rather than below it as shown in the super cute picture. ALL DAY LONG that stinking thing was rolled up right under my boobs.

Not. Comfy. At. All.

I had bought a few more of these a few weeks ago at Target and they are super long. I found that annoying because I can pull it over my belly and it still comes halfway down my legs. After today's experience though, I am thinking that longer is better.

16 weeks

(When Bubba asked what the baby looked like this week and saw this picture, he said "he's praying!")

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 16 weeks

Size of baby: 4 1/2 inches from crown to rump and weighs 3 1/2 ounces. Baby K is the size of an avocado.

What the baby is up to: Getting ready for a big growth spurt. In the next few weeks, baby K will double his/her size! (Maybe that explains my HUNGER the last few days!) He/she has started growing toenails and is now pumping 25 quarts of blood through his/her heart each day.

Maternity Clothes: Yes - these are definitely necessary.

Gender: We don't know yet! Everyone says a girl.

Movement: Yes, I think so!

Cravings: Havarti cheese.

Anti-cravings: Anything greasy. Hamburger. ICK.

Symptoms: Sneezing, nose constantly running or stuffy. I started using nasal pray about 12 days ago to help relieve the stuffiness. I quickly remembered that that stuff is horrible. It helps for the day, but the problem just gets worse over time, you become dependent on it and it completely kills your taste buds. So, after using it for 9 days, I went cold turkey and I think it might be getting better. (I don't really think it is, I'm just trying to stay positive!)

Sleep: Last week I invested in a body pillow, which Trophy Hub fondly refers to as my "boyfriend". Don't let him fool you though, he admitted to snuggling up to my "boyfriend" to stay warm. It is pretty comfy and I've been sleeping much better.

What I miss: Sleeping all night.
Best Moment this week: Feeling distinct baby movements!

AI

I really didn't think with Simon being gone that I would be into American Idol this season.

I was wrong.

I have always loved Randy, but Simon had that hard exterior that is hard for me to resist.

I like Jennifer Lopez, she seems like a very down to earth gal, even though the woman is drop dead gorgeous.

Steven Tyler is really the one that has surprised me. I was an Aerosmith fan, but didn't really know much about him personally. Not that I do now, but I have seen him be very sensitive and kind to many of the contestants and their families...there were a few stories with a special needs child and girlfriend that Steven seemed especially touched. The last story on tonight's show made me bawl. (Not that it takes much these days.) I wish I could find it online and post it here in case you missed it.

I will definitely keep watching. The talent is always amazes me! I love watching people's dreams come true.

Bunk up!

Trophy Hub and I are in the market for bunk beds. Soon after we find out the sex of this baby, we hope to purchase bunk beds and get the boys moved in together. I would like them to be used to sleeping in the same room before the baby comes. And I want time to do the nursery. (Is a nursery different from a baby room? I always called it "the baby's room" but nursery sounds so much more posh so I'm going to say that.) I would like to paint the walls in that room regardless of the sex. I painted the room yellow and blue for Bubba - with the help of my mom - when I was pregnant with him.

I came across this in my search:

Seriously?! A triple decker?!

I worry about them chopping their heads off in the ceiling fan with a regular bunk bed! I thought we'd be limited to 3 kids in our very humble 3 bedroom home, but shooooooooot, maybe not! We could probably fit one of these babies in each room!

Vitamin D

Today was Monday.

Today I was not tired.

Today I got a ton done at work despite numerous interruptions.

Today I was peppy.

Today I networked like crazy over lunch.

Tonight I cooked a hot meal.

Tonight I did a 100 piece puzzle with my kiddos.

Tonight we laughed until we almost peed.

Today the sun was shining.

Maybe that's why it was such a good day.

14 weeks

I am 14 weeks pregnant!

The baby is 3.25 - 4 inches long (about the size of your fist) and weighs almost 1 ounce. Can anyone tell me why my belly seems so ginormous if the baby is only that big? I was thinking it was at least the size of a cantaloupe based on the looks of my belly.

Anyway...here is a pic of what the baby probably looks like (although I'm sure mine is MUCH cuter).

14 Weeks Pregnant
It still amazing me that even though the baby is only 3-4 inches long, it still looks like a baby! I think as long as I live it will always amaze me.

Right now, the baby can squint, grimace, frown, pee and even suck his/her thumb!

Plagerizing disclaimer - I stole the following (and made it my own) from another blogger:

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 14 weeks

Size of baby: Size of a fist.

Maternity Clothes: I have switched to maternity pants at work. I usually wear a maternity shirt that doesn't look like maternity under a sweater.

Gender: We don't know yet!

Movement: Not feeling movements yet. I thought maybe a felt a few flutters this weekend, but it's pretty early for that.

Cravings: Fresh foods - subs.

Anti-cravings: The smell and taste of hamburger cooking. ICK.

Symptoms: Sneezing, nose constantly running or stuffy.

Sleep: I sleep pretty good until I wake up at 4am to go to the bathroom then my nose starts to run.

What I miss: Sleeping all night??

Best Moment this week: Bubba asking if he could touch my belly...then did so ever so gently.

Best blog post ever

And it's not even mine!

The long weekend

We had a very lazy long weekend around here. Trophy Hub may beg to differ as he was helping my brother work on wiring our basement for the second Saturday in a row. The good news is the wiring is 99% complete! We just need it inspected and then it's ready for drywall.

Bubba started complaining of a sore throat Saturday afternoon and when I picked him up to feel sorry for him he felt warm. He is not a complainer so I figured he was probably getting sick. I gave him Tylenol every 4 hours and it seemed to keep his fever away. Sunday morning he told me right away his throat and his stomach hurt. So...off to UI QuickCare we went. Diagnosis: strep throat.

The doctor prescribed Zithromax for him since he's allergic to Amoxocillin. The great thing about that is that it's only 5 days. The bad thing about that is it messes with his digestive system. It doesn't take much on the poor little 32 pounder. No fever though and he says his throat doesn't hurt anymore!

We had a fun day planned today, but it snowed, sleeted and snowed some more so we stayed home. Peanut played in the snow a few times with some neighbor kids. He's so social and doesn't mind getting cold because I always make him hot chocolate when he comes back in. The trick is getting all his gear dry in between trips outside. I tried to talk Bubba into going out, but he's a little too much like me when it comes to this weather. He just said "NO!" It's probably ok though considering the strep situation.

I could really use a 3 day weekend every week. Or maybe a 4 day weekend.

Awk-ward

Sometimes the longer I am away from my blog the harder it is to come up with something to write about.

Not that there's not anything going on around here.

Sheesh.

I am not even going to do a recap since the last time I posted.

Let me just tell you that life is good. Even though it's winter - and I despise winter. We haven't had terrible weather although right now it is awfully cold. January is under way and I'm hopeful that we will get an early spring like last year. And then there's the fact that we will be traveling to the great state of FLORIDA in March for a week. Yup, and then there's that.

Ok, well, now that I have the awkward Ihaven'tbloggedinoveramonth post over and done with I will be back soon!
